Canonically established by Order of Friars Minor brothers in 1930, the St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity in Vancouver is the oldest Secular Franciscan fraternity in the Lower Mainland. Members come from several parishes in the Vancouver Archdiocese.

Most members of our fraternity are actively involved in their respective parishes and apostolic outreach, e.g. Teaching the Faith, Prayer Ministry, Street Ministry, Pro-Life, Knights of Columbus, Development and Peace, Parish Pastoral Council, Legion of Mary.

Our fraternity apostolic outreach includes support of Franciscan International to promote respect for human dignity; food for the poor; justice and peace for all. Our local apostolic outreach includes support of charitable organizations that feed the hungry and clothe the poor and support of women who are recovering from drug addictions by counselling and prayer support.

The "How does one become a member of the Secular Franciscan Order?" page on this website provides information about the journey one takes to become a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

Visitors are welcome at all our fraternity meetings, including our Annual Picnic & Open House in August and our Christmas Celebration & Dinner in December.
The dates for upcoming meetings may be found on the "Schedule of Meetings" page.
